The “Homeland Survey” conclusion. A success?
Wow! Look at the sense of almost panic when white people were asked about their own heritage and from where they originate! Many thanks to the Non-Black participants who embraced the question and replied without cynicism.
It is just that reaction that the thread was designed to create. The fact that so many times white racists have made the comment "go back to your country!" This thread was aimed at exposing what one would think was obvious but seems not to be; This is my country! This is my country as much as is it yours. I and my forefathers before me have contributed to the development and greatness of this of this great nation right alongside of yours. The fact is that we are all in a sense "immigrants" to this land in one way or another. So why when the hate surfaces do I lose the right to call this country my homeland?
Only by asking the question of those that are the offenders could we succeed in the age old concept of "putting yourself in someone else's shoes." This was not a thread aimed at defacing the reputation or the greatness of the United States. George Bush is conquering that on his own without my help. But again it was to invoke the patriotic emotion that lives in all US citizens. This land is mine, it is yous, and we should treat each other accordingly. Thank you all for participating in the study. This was informative to say the least and while I'm sure the discussions will continue, I thank you all nonetheless.
